Hatta snatches the “First” shield from Pirlo’s hands… and advances to the “Professionals”

The Hatta team won the first division football title yesterday, clinching the second promotion ticket to the professional league next season, after its victory in the last round over the Majd team with a score of (3-1) in the match held at Tahnoon bin Mohammed Stadium in Al Ain Club, raising its score to 59 points and topping the standings, while the Majd team was relegated to the second division after occupying the penultimate place with 21 points.
The goals for Hatta were scored by Brazilian Guilherme Castro in the 42nd minute, and Samuel Rosa (46), before Macedonian Shevet Sheveti added the third goal (72), while Majd Abdullah Al Hammadi scored (80).
This is the fourth promotion of the Hatta team to the professional league after the 2016-2017, 2019-2020, and 2023-2024 seasons, under the leadership of citizen coach Walid Obaid.
Hatta benefited from the loss of the United team (which had won the first promotion ticket) to its host Al-Hamriyah with a score of (2-0), leaving United’s score frozen at 58 points in second place, while Al-Hamriyah raised its score to 38 points in ninth place.
United coach and Italian football legend Andrea Pirlo appeared sad after losing the title, after he was close to winning the title, as he quickly left the field, expressing his frustration, despite the distinguished performance he presented with the team, through which he led it to rise to the professional league for the first time in the club’s history.
For his part, United player Tariq Ahmed revealed that he is close to announcing his retirement from football, stressing that he will make his decision during the coming period.
In the rest of the results of the last round of the First Division League, Al-Jazira Al-Hamra won over Al-Fujairah (3-1), and Al-Ettifaq defeated Gulf United (2-1), ensuring that both teams remained in the First Division League after each of them raised its score to 24 points.
The UAE also won over Al Dhaid (2-1), Dibba Al Hisn over City (2-0), and Al Orouba over Masfout (2-1).
• Despite the promotion, Pirlo left the field disappointed after losing to Al Hamriyah and not winning the title.
