Tonight’s European Champions League final…the “crazy” Saint-Germain collides with the “realistic” Arsenal

On a European evening that seems closer to a confrontation between two different projects in the philosophy of football construction, attention turns today (20:00 UAE time) to the Puskas Arena in the Hungarian capital, Budapest, where Paris Saint-Germain, the French champion, will meet Arsenal, the English Premier League champion, in the Champions League final.
Paris Saint-Germain will enter the final as the defending champion and the strongest attacking line in the tournament, having scored 44 goals during his continental career, but more important than the numbers is that the team appears more balanced and mature compared to previous years, a point that reflects the major transformation led by Spanish coach Luis Enrique since the departure of the era of individual stars, most notably Frenchman Kylian Mbappe.
The current Paris does not rely on one player, but rather on a mobile attacking system, led by Ousmane Dembélé, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Desiree Douy, with the influential presence of Vitinha and Joao Neves in the process of linking and controlling.
On the other hand, the “realistic” Arsenal, led by Spanish coach Mikel Arteta, arrives in Budapest carrying a completely different narrative, as the London team has never won the Champions League.
Arsenal does not have the overwhelming attacking power enjoyed by Paris Saint-Germain, but it has what can be described as the best defensive system in the tournament, as it did not lose any European match this season, and emerged with a clean sheet in nine matches.
Arsenal’s most important advantage is perhaps its collective character. The team does not rely on crazy rhythm, but rather on controlling space, smart pressing, and defensive discipline, while exploiting the quality of players such as Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice, and Victor Guikiris.
