Shamma bint Mohammed emphasizes the role of the Emirati family in consolidating values and facing the challenges of the digital age

The Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan Association for Future Generations in Al Ain hosted a meeting within the “Keys to a Happy Family” program, which included a number of female members of Al Ain School Mothers’ Councils, under the patronage and presence of Sheikha Dr. Shamma bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan Cultural and Educational Institutions.
The meeting discussed ways to enhance community dialogue on the awareness of the Emirati family as the first line of defense against attacks via social media, and its essential role in consolidating values and building awareness of future generations, through integration between home and school to prepare children to face the challenges of the times with confidence and ability.
Sheikha Dr. Shamma bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan confirmed that the mother represents the first school that precedes all educational institutions, and that her role at the current stage is pivotal in engineering awareness and creating reassurance within the home, especially in light of the rapid transformations the world is witnessing, regional crises, and broad digital openness that reaches the minds of children before adults ask for permission.
She pointed out that the “Year of the Family” represents a national charter that restores the family’s natural position as the primary incubator of values and authenticity, and the fortress in which the human being is built and the nation is preserved.
She pointed out that reassurance is a psychological strength that the mother instills in her children through persistence, good management of anxiety, and the ability to transform fear into cohesion, anticipation into belonging, and crisis into an opportunity to deepen confidence in the nation and its leadership.
Sheikha Shamma stressed that education is not achieved through direct sermons alone, but rather through daily role models. The children read the features of their mothers and the way they dealt with events before listening to advice, calling for deepening family dialogue, enhancing the presence of the reading home, recalling the lives of the ancestors, and instilling respect for the Emirati identity, language and values in the hearts of the children, stressing that the school grants knowledge while the family gives meaning and a moral compass.
The meeting witnessed interventions from participating mothers from Al Ain Schools’ Mothers’ Councils, which reflected realistic experiences in dealing with children during periods of anxiety and crises. They spoke about the importance of spreading reassurance in the hearts of children, explaining events to them in a language appropriate to their ages, and not leaving them prey to information circulating through social media.
Participants praised the role of schools in sending awareness messages and videos that contributed to calming students and enhancing their confidence in the nation’s protectors.
Some of the interventions addressed the experiences of mothers of children in national service and the armed forces, where they expressed their pride in their children and their high patriotic spirit, stressing that the challenging moments revealed the depth of belonging and the extent of trust in the state’s leadership and its institutions.
In the discussion, a number of attendees emphasized the importance of the Arabic language, national identity, and heritage in shaping children’s personalities, and not being satisfied with academic success or mastering foreign languages, but rather building a generation that knows its roots, is proud of its homeland, and possesses an awareness capable of distinguishing between correct information and digital noise.
