“Forward” is a party that offers Americans a third option between Republicans and Democrats

In what appears to be a strong indication that American politics is suffering from a major defect, a political party with a support rate of 28% is about to change the balance of control over the House of Representatives next November. In fact, this result is not the result of support for the “Democrats,” but rather the growing popular discontent with Republican President Donald Trump.
The midterm elections this year will be decided by voters choosing what they see as “the lesser of two evils,” and not by an enthusiastic vote for a particular political party, as many Americans have felt bored with both political parties: the Democratic and the Republican, but this boredom will not be enough to overcome the momentum of the current situation based on the two parties monopolizing power between them without another competitor who can cause any inconvenience.
Confidence in the future
This year will not be the moment in which independent candidates and other party candidates reshape American politics, but it will be the year of laying the foundation for something new that may take shape soon, as the current system has strong momentum, but it cannot contain voter discontent forever, especially after the American people went through the recent circumstances of wars and economic problems that negatively affected their livelihood.
Americans are gradually losing confidence in the future, starting from the failure of public schools and the educational system that American students enjoy, to the challenge that workers face as they try to remain within the middle class. Given that voters usually tend to blame the party that controls the presidency for all their frustrations, it will be relatively easier to predict the results of the upcoming midterm elections next November.
It is known that in the two-party political system in the United States, the party that wins the presidency most often loses seats in Congress. If this predictable system worked well, it could have lasted longer, but this is not the case, and so Americans are discontent with the current situation.
Failures of the two-party system
Voters are beginning to realize the failures of the modern two-party system, and during the worst period of political division between the two parties since the Civil War, Republicans and Democrats have exchanged power, insults, and accusations, and both bear responsibility for the current state of our country, whatever accusations they make of each other.
The methods of former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, a Republican from Georgia, may have paved the way for the political dysfunction we see today, but Democrats have caught up with Republicans in the race to inflame political division.
The Democratic Party is no less willing to disrupt the work of the government, use inferior language, and harass its opponents with “childish” comments on the Internet. In their quest to confront evil with evil, the Democrats deliberately burned the standards that have distinguished them for hundreds of years, and which made many people attracted to this party.
Democratic candidates are likely to win the November 2026 elections because undecided voters are dissatisfied with President Donald Trump and do not trust Republicans to rein in his worst tendencies and oppose his bad ideas.
If the elected Republicans had demonstrated their independence, it would have been easier for the party’s candidates to overcome the president’s unpopularity. Instead, Americans realize that most Republicans in Congress will follow the president, albeit hesitantly, and this vote may make the Republican candidate in Congress a vote to go along with the tendencies and policies of an “unpopular president.”
Even if this means losing power periodically, both Democratic and Republican officials are satisfied with a system that limits their competition to one party with which they are equally unpopular, and both of them are so focused on defeating the other that they have overlooked the causes of this bitter conflict between them, and overlooked any negatives that may result from it.
The struggle of the two parties
Politicians focus on listing their opponents’ flaws, rather than building coalitions to govern effectively, improve government performance, and improve the lives of Americans who feel lost in this bipartisan struggle.
In fact, the results of this conflict are clearly visible and cannot be overlooked by anyone. The United States has now become a debtor of $39 trillion, which entails many negatives, and it has not revived the deteriorating American industrial cities, which are in dire need of financial support.
Trust in government is near its lowest levels, family members stop talking to each other about politics, feeling useless, and the culture promoted by Democrats and Republicans does not meet the needs of the country and the people, and seems increasingly incompatible with the overall prosperity of the American people.
Change is coming
Fortunately for Americans, change seems to be coming. Last year, a candidate from the Forward Party won the position of mayor of the city of Georgetown in South Carolina, which is considered a prominent indicator of the upcoming reorganization of the political scene. His victory was the first of its kind in South Carolina for a candidate from a third party in partisan elections since 1894.
About 45% of Americans are politically independent according to what they define themselves, compared to 27% who define themselves as “Democrats,” and 27% who define themselves as “Republicans.” People abandon party affiliations, but in most elections they are still forced to choose between a Democratic candidate and a Republican candidate, even though they are not convinced by both parties. This is what makes unpopular parties win power.
Alternative parties
The Forward Party organizes its ranks throughout the country, and its electoral program represents a model of constructive political behavior that intends to offer something different, and it is completely different from what we are accustomed to seeing from Democrats and Republicans who are accustomed to holding power.
The party is “centrist,” another alternative in its early stages of organization. Its eight guiding principles provide a framework that appeals to a wide segment of Americans, and its commitment to fiscal discipline and environmental protection is a good example of its ability to change traditional political divisions that have become well known to Americans. It is excessive arrogance for Democrats and Republicans to believe that they can maintain their monopoly of power despite the decline in their popularity and the increasing dissatisfaction of Americans with their performance in power.
It is almost certain that the Democrats will win the House of Representatives next November, but this shift will change nothing except repeat a pattern that fails to meet the requirements of this difficult moment. The November elections may bring about a change, but a much larger shift is inevitably coming. About “The Hill”
