“Sharjah Fisheries Resources” discusses mechanisms for developing support for fishermen in the emirate

During its meeting, yesterday, Thursday, with the cooperative societies of fishermen in the Emirate of Sharjah, in the presence of the Chairman of the Authority, Ali Ahmed Abu Ghazin, and a number of Authority officials, heads and representatives of the associations, the Sharjah Fish Resources Authority discussed ways to expand coordination channels with the associations, follow up on the needs of fishermen, and improve the system of services provided to them.

The meeting discussed the most prominent challenges facing associations and fishermen, and reviewed the proposals and observations submitted by the associations, in addition to examining mechanisms for developing support and services provided to fishermen in a way that contributes to raising work efficiency and improving the sector’s environment.

The meeting comes as an extension of the periodic meetings organized by the Authority with cooperative societies for fishermen, in translation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, aimed at supporting fishermen, enhancing the sustainability of fish wealth, and developing the work system in this vital sector.

Ali Ahmed Abu Ghazin stressed that periodic meetings with fishermen’s associations represent a direct channel to listen to the needs of the sector and follow up on the development of services provided to fishermen, pointing out that the associations are a major partner in supporting the fishing profession and enhancing its sustainability in the emirate.
