"START AD" and"New York Abu Dhabi" Announcing the winners of the Entrepreneurship Incubator Program

ABU DHABI, 4th May, 2018 (WAM) – StartAD, the global accelerator supported by Tamkeen and based at New York University Abu Dhabi, in partnership with Agility, announced the names of the winners of the Entrepreneurship Incubator Award, which is a program for student founders that focuses on developing projects in the most important sectors in the UAE, including artificial intelligence, healthcare, advanced industries, and practical applications.
Three teams were selected that were distinguished by their projects, were able to achieve clear development during the program, and demonstrated their ability to bring about tangible change.
The “Twynable” project team won the first prize “Agility Innovation Award”. Twynable is a digital twin platform powered by artificial intelligence for facilities management, which integrates building information models (BIM), sensor data and operational records within a unified smart system for buildings, allowing proactive data-based insights.
The second prize was won by the Colleged project team, which is a global platform that connects high school students with trusted mentors from the most prominent universities around the world, with a live interactive model, and provides transparent and affordable guidance for university admissions through a commission-based guarantee system.
While the People’s Choice Award was won by the Lemma Education project team, which is a mathematics education platform supported by artificial intelligence and based on voice interaction, it helps students explain the steps of their thinking instantly, which enhances deep understanding and develops problem-solving skills.
Ashwin Joshi, Director of the StartAD platform, expressed his happiness with this important achievement for the student founders and the entrepreneurship community at NYU Abu Dhabi, as the participants in this edition of the program demonstrated their interest in advanced technologies, and their commitment to addressing the most prominent practical challenges in the sectors that are most important to the UAE and the region in general.
He also expressed the university’s gratitude to its partners and entities supporting the entrepreneurship system for helping students refine their ideas, test their models, and develop their solutions for the future.
40 team members and project founders from more than 20 countries participated in the program, and their projects included more than seven sectors, including medical, financial, educational technology, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence. The participating students worked to develop their projects, benefiting from guidance, organized training programs, and communication with companies, investors, and business incubators in all sectors of the innovation system in the UAE.
The New York University Abu Dhabi Entrepreneurship Incubator Program falls within the framework of StartAD’s broader efforts to support the development of early-stage startups, through partnerships with academic entities and others from the public and private sectors.
