Egypt strongly condemns the targeting of an Emirati oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz

The Arab Republic of Egypt condemned in the strongest terms and denounces the blatant attack that targeted an Emirati tanker while it was passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed, in a statement issued today, that targeting commercial ships and disrupting international sea lanes is a flagrant violation of the principles of international law that affirm and guarantee freedom of international navigation, warning that such practices represent a serious threat to the security and stability of the region, global energy supplies, and the freedom of international trade movement.

Egypt affirmed its full solidarity and stand with the UAE in the measures and procedures it takes to protect its security and national interests, stressing its categorical rejection of any actions aimed at harming the security and stability of the Arab Gulf states.

Egypt stressed that the security of the United Arab Emirates is an integral part of Egyptian national security, stressing the organic and close connection between the security of the sister Emirates and the security of Egypt and the entire region.
