The UAE presents its vision for promoting the hydrogen economy at the Rotterdam Summit

The United Arab Emirates, represented by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, participated in the Global Hydrogen Summit 2026, hosted by the Dutch city of Rotterdam, one of the most prominent international platforms that brings together decision-makers, experts and sector leaders to anticipate the future of the hydrogen economy and accelerate the transition towards clean energy.

The country also participated in a session of the International Hydrogen Trade Forum, which discussed global visions and trends to enhance hydrogen trade and integrate its chains at the international level.

The UAE’s participation in the summit comes within the framework of its commitment to promoting transformation in the energy sector, and consolidating its position as a leading global center for low-emission hydrogen, in line with the objectives of the National Hydrogen Strategy, through developing an integrated system that includes production, transportation, storage, and use, which contributes to supporting climate neutrality efforts, and enhancing energy security and its long-term sustainability.

During the summit sessions, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure stressed the importance of strengthening international cooperation and integrating efforts between governments, the private sector, and financial and technological institutions, as it is the cornerstone for building a sustainable and effective global hydrogen economy, capable of supporting the global transition towards more efficient, sustainable and flexible energy systems.

During the summit, the UAE reviewed its efforts to support decarbonization in vital sectors, including developing indicative policies for sustainable aviation fuel, promoting innovation and exchanging global best practices, and expanding international partnerships supporting the transition towards a low-emission economy.

The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure confirmed that the UAE continues to establish an advanced model in the energy transition, based on diversification, innovation and strategic partnerships, in a way that supports the goals of sustainable development and the green economy.
