We are close to resuming major combat operations against Iran

Senior officials in the US administration revealed that the United States is close to resuming “major combat operations” against Iran, stressing that the ceasefire is currently facing a fateful test in the Strait of Hormuz with the launch of the “Freedom Project” to secure international navigation.

An unprecedented escalation

In statements they made to Fox News national security correspondent Jennifer Griffin, the officials said: “Today we are closer to resuming comprehensive combat operations than we were just 24 hours ago,” and they attributed this escalation to Iranian forces targeting American ships, in addition to the attacks launched by Tehran with missiles, drones, and speedboats against targets in the United Arab Emirates.

Military readiness and political decision

The report confirmed that the US Army has completed the process of “re-arming and equipping” and is on high alert to respond, awaiting the final decision that falls to President Donald Trump and the new leadership in Tehran. Although officials confirmed that no official orders have yet been issued to end the ceasefire or resume bombing campaigns, the “right to pre-emptive response” has become available to field commanders.

New rules of engagement

A high-ranking defense official explained to the network that commanders in the field now have all the necessary powers to protect troops and commercial shipping, including directing pre-emptive strikes in the event that movements of Iranian missile platforms or imminent threats are detected, without the need to wait for them to be exposed to direct fire.

A defensive umbrella in the Gulf

This escalation coincides with President Trump’s launch of “Project Freedom” with the aim of escorting and guiding commercial ships stranded in vital waterways. Military experts described to Fox News the current tactic as relying on an air and sea “defense umbrella” that provides layered and comprehensive protection, which observers consider a shift from passive defense to direct combat preparedness in the region.
