Aoun and Macron discuss by phone establishing a ceasefire in the south and the post-UNIFIL phase

Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun discussed with his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, during a phone call, developments in the situation in Lebanon and the region in light of the US-Iranian negotiations in Switzerland. They touched on the phase after declaring a ceasefire in the south and the subsequent steps to stabilize it and extend state authority over its entire territory.

The Lebanese National News Agency reported that the call dealt with the period after the end of the UNIFIL mission in early 2027.
Macron confirmed his intention to hold contacts to determine the positions of countries regarding the European desire, supported by Lebanon, to keep international forces in the area of ​​operations and to find the necessary framework for that.

The two presidents reviewed the outcomes of the G7 summit in the French city of Evian, and the Lebanese president expressed his thanks to his French counterpart for the position issued regarding Lebanon.
