"Barjeel" Unveils an integrated medical project in Mohammed bin Zayed City during "Made in UAE"
Abu Dhabi, 6 May / WAM / Burjeel Holding Group, during its participation in the fifth session of the “Make in the Emirates 2026” exhibition, revealed a new integrated project in Mohammed bin Zayed City in Abu Dhabi, extending over an area of 387 thousand square meters, and includes facilities for medical education, scientific research, pharmaceutical manufacturing and health innovation, in support of developing medical industries and enhancing local sufficiency in the health sector.
Dr. Shamsher Vayalil, Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Burjeel Holding, said in a statement to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), that the group is moving towards establishing an integrated system that combines scientific research, innovation and medical manufacturing within a unified complex in Mohammed bin Zayed City, in a step aimed at strengthening national capabilities in the health sector and developing advanced medical solutions and pharmaceutical industries from the UAE.
He explained that the project will include a medical college concerned with preparing competencies and developing medical talent, with a focus on attracting students to study within the country and encouraging students abroad to complete their professional and academic careers locally, thus contributing to supporting the system of medical education and scientific research.
He added that the project reflects the integration of efforts between Burjeel and VPS Healthcare to provide an advanced model in the fields of manufacturing and medical development, including the pharmaceutical industries, personal care products, and medical education.
Dr. Vayalil pointed to the memorandum of understanding signed with the Kizad Group on the sidelines of the exhibition, to explore new cooperation horizons to establish an advanced manufacturing facility that supports the expansion of advanced pharmaceutical industries in the UAE, stressing that the project will contribute to enhancing the production of life-saving medicines, oncology treatments, vaccines, and specialized medical products in Abu Dhabi, in a way that supports the goals of drug security and strengthening national capabilities in medical manufacturing.
