Global food prices continue to rise in April

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) said on Friday that global food prices rose in April for the third month in a row, with the prices of vegetable oils in particular rising.

The FAO Food Price Index, which measures changes in a basket of globally traded food commodities, averaged 130.7 points in April, up 1.6 percent from its revised level in March.
