An explosion in a truck near Damascus

An explosive device exploded on a passenger bus near the Syrian capital, Damascus, on Monday.

A source in the Syrian Ministry of Interior said in a statement: “An empty bus exploded in the Al-Wurud neighborhood in Damascus, without recording any human damage, while specialized teams are working to determine the causes of the explosion.”

A local source in the Al-Wurud neighborhood said, “An explosive device was planted on a bus transporting passengers in the Al-Wurud neighborhood in the Damascus countryside, and that four people were slightly injured.”

The source added, “The Internal Security and Civil Defense Forces arrived at the site of the explosion, secured it, and are working to remove the waste.”

The Al-Wurud neighborhood is located north of the capital, Damascus, and belongs to the Dummar Al-Balad neighborhood. It is close to the residences of the Republican Guard of the former regime. The residences were evacuated from members of the former regime, and are now residences for families of the Syrian Ministry of Defense forces.
