Museums are spaces for dialogue and human communication in the age of noise

Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairwoman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, stressed that the importance of museums is not limited to being incubators of history and culture only, but also extends to being spaces that enhance human communication amidst the noise. She said: “This year’s International Museum Day slogan, ‘Museums unite a divided world,’ reflects our actual reality today.”

Her Highness added: “Museums invite us to contemplate and understand the differences among us, turning them into a space for dialogue and rapprochement, and reminding us that culture has always been the bridge that bridges distances, helps us understand each other, and contributes to building bonds that cross time and geographical borders. In Dubai, a city whose identity was formed from the diversity of cultures and human experiences, museums play an important role in enhancing this feeling of human interconnectedness, and in building spaces in which people unite around culture, arts, and shared memory, and while “As we move towards the future, museums remind us that true progress should not come at the expense of memory or identity, and that the strongest societies are those that adhere to their values, while confidently being open to different cultures and experiences.”
