Photos| A record heat wave hits the eastern United States… and schools are being transformed "remote"

The Philadelphia Schools Administration switched classes to distance education for students in 57 schools, stressing that despite progress, a number of schools still suffer from weak air conditioning systems.
Record temperatures were recorded Tuesday in Portland, Maine, at 92 degrees Fahrenheit (33 Celsius), and in Boston, 96 degrees Fahrenheit (35.5 Celsius).
In the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston, high school officials provided fans and distributed water bottles, Students were also allowed to wear light clothing instead of the usual school uniform.
A heat wave warning was in effect for parts of the states of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island until Wednesday evening. In New York City, officials opened cooling centers to help residents mitigate the effects of the heat.
