Demand for basic machinery in Japan increased by 8.7% in April

Seasonal variables accounted for 1,089.5 billion yen ($6.84 billion), while analysts had expected a rise of 1.2% after a decline of 9.4% during March.
On an annual basis, the value of demand for machinery increased by 15.6% during April, while analysts had expected it to grow by 9.3% after increasing by 5.9% during the previous month.
Demand is expected to grow during the second quarter of this year by 0.3% compared to the previous quarter, and to rise by 8.5% annually.
The total value of machinery orders received by the largest 280 manufacturing companies in Japan rose by 3.4% monthly and by 33.6% annually during April to 4,038.8 billion yen.
