Al Faghi Street in Al Khawaneej was named after Sheikh Zayed Farm

The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority, in cooperation with the Road Naming Committee in the Emirate of Dubai, announced the naming of Sheikh Zayed Farm Street to Al Faghi Street in Al Khawaneej, in recognition of the national and historical status represented by Sheikh Zayed Farm in the Al Khawaneej area, which His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him,” announced that it had been designated as a third national site in the United Arab Emirates, alongside “Union House” and “Arqoub Al Sedira,” in commemoration of what The place symbolizes national meanings and the important historical meetings it witnessed during the founding stages of the United Arab Emirates.

Sheikh Zayed Farm is linked to a pivotal stage in the history of the Union, as the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “may God rest his soul,” resided there during the month of March 1971, for about two consecutive weeks, during which he held a series of meetings and discussions with his fellow rulers of the Emirates, “may God rest their souls,” which constituted an essential step towards the establishment of the Union, and paved the way for the signing of the Union Agreement and the Constitution in July of the same year.

The adoption of the new name comes in line with Dubai’s trends in perpetuating national sites of historical and cultural value, and linking urban components and roads with landmarks that embody the nation’s memory and its development path, thus contributing to strengthening national identity and consolidating the historical legacy of the UAE in the minds of future generations.

Today, Sheikh Zayed Farm is considered one of the most prominent national monuments in the UAE, because of the historical and national symbolism it represents linked to the march of the Union, in addition to its societal and cultural status that reflects the values ​​of authenticity, cohesion, and vision, established by the Founding Fathers to build a nation that has become a global model for development, livelihood, and stability.
