Abdullah bin Zayed meets with the President of the German Bundestag, its Vice-President, and the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with the President of the German Bundestag, the Federal Parliament of the Federal Republic of Germany, Julia Klöckner, Vice President of the Bundestag, Omid Nouripour, and Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Bundestag, Armin Laschet.

The meetings, which were held during His Highness’s working visit to the Federal Republic of Germany, discussed all regional developments and the repercussions of the treacherous Iranian terrorist attacks that targeted civilian sites and facilities in the UAE using missiles and drones.

The serious effects of these attacks on the security of international maritime navigation, the stability of energy markets and the global economy were discussed, in addition to discussing ways to enhance international cooperation to protect sea lanes and ensure freedom of global trade.

The discussions touched on the treacherous terrorist attacks carried out by drones coming from Iraqi territory, one of which last Sunday targeted the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant and hit an electric generator outside the inner perimeter of the plant.

Julia Klöckner, Omid Nouripour, and Armin Laschet affirmed Germany’s solidarity with the UAE and its condemnation of these treacherous terrorist attacks, while His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed his thanks and appreciation for the supportive German position, stressing the safety of all residents and visitors in the country.

During the meetings, they discussed friendship and cooperation relations between the two countries, and ways to enhance them in various fields to serve their mutual interests.

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed that Emirati-German relations are witnessing development in various fields, pointing to the importance of the role played by parliamentary institutions in strengthening bridges of communication and understanding between peoples, and supporting regional and international peace and security.

The meetings were attended by Minister of State Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Minister of State Saeed bin Mubarak Al-Hajri, and the UAE Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany, Ahmed Wahib Al-Attar.
