10 major companies account for half of Korea’s exports

SEOUL, May 23 / WAM / The Republic of Korea’s ten largest companies accounted for more than half of the country’s total exports in the first quarter of 2026, thanks to strong semiconductor exports.
According to the Korean Ministry of Data and Statistics, leading companies accounted for 50.1% of total exports during the period from January to March, recording a significant increase of 36.6% compared to the same period last year.
South Korea’s total exports in the first quarter amounted to 219.9 billion US dollars, an increase of 37.8% over the same period last year.
Large conglomerates saw their export volume rise by 52.9% during the same period, to US$158.5 billion, while medium-sized companies recorded a modest increase of 7.4% to US$31.3 billion, and small-cap exports rose by 10.7%, to US$29.1 billion.
