President of Uzbekistan launches "Uzbek Reading Challenge" Within the strategic partnership initiatives with the Emirates

Dubai, May 23 / WAM / His Excellency Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, launched the Uzbek Reading Challenge, the national initiative aimed at consolidating a culture of reading and knowledge among new generations, as part of the strategic partnership initiatives with the United Arab Emirates in the areas of knowledge exchange and government modernization.

The launch of the initiative is the result of cooperation between the Government Knowledge Exchange Office in the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs in the UAE, and the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, to transfer successful experiences and exchange knowledge and expertise with governments around the world, which contributes to developing government work, building capabilities and empowering people.

The Uzbek Reading Challenge is an extension of the experience of the Arab Reading Challenge initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, in the year 2015, as the largest reading competition and project in the world. The Uzbek Reading Challenge also reflects the pioneering position that the Arab Reading Challenge has reached, and its impact in creating a global movement in reading.

His Excellency President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said: “We have accumulated great experience in organizing such initiatives and competitions, and we have carefully studied the best international experiences in this field, and one of the most prominent of these pioneering models is the experience of the United Arab Emirates, which has become a global example in consolidating the culture of reading. In 2015, and at the initiative of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Arab Reading Challenge initiative was launched, which today has turned into one of the largest knowledge and cultural initiatives in the world, and in just ten years it has achieved To more than 200 million students around the world.

He added: “Based on the strong friendship and strategic partnership between our two countries, we have decided to benefit from this inspiring experience, along with our rich spiritual and cultural heritage, to advance the efforts we are making in this field to a new and more influential level. I take this occasion to express my sincere gratitude to the government of the United Arab Emirates and His Excellency Mohammed Al Gergawi.”

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev continued: “I look at this program not just as a reading competition, but rather as a strategic investment in the future of our homeland. If today we put a good book in the hands of a child, tomorrow he will build a great future for the new Uzbekistan, and that is why I call on all of you to actively participate in this comprehensive national movement.”

For his part, His Excellency Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Secretary-General of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation, stressed the keenness of the UAE, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, to strengthen friendly relations and cooperation with the Republic of Uzbekistan, transfer its successful government experience, exchange knowledge and experiences, and participate in Launching and implementing specific knowledge initiatives.

His Excellency said: “The launch by His Excellency Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the friendly Republic of Uzbekistan, of the Uzbek Reading Challenge initiative, as an extension of the Arab Reading Challenge, reflects the depth of the partnership between the two countries and their shared vision of the importance of culture in advancing society, and the necessity of preparing conscious, reading generations capable of leading major transformations and making a difference in the present and future of their countries.”

The Uzbek Reading Challenge is inspired by the achievements achieved by the Arab Reading Challenge, and its role in creating a comprehensive knowledge movement and a significant impact on the Arab cultural scene, enhancing the status of the Arabic language, encouraging the establishment of reading as a daily habit in the souls of new generations, strengthening its connection to its identity and cultural heritage, and introducing figures and inspiring figures who have contributed to writing the history of human civilization over the centuries.

The Uzbek Reading Challenge initiative reflects the depth of the cultural and scientific heritage of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which throughout history has formed one of the most important centers of science and knowledge in Islamic civilization, and has produced to the world prominent scholars and thinkers who have contributed to the development of the human, medical, astronomical, and mathematical sciences, including Imam al-Bukhari, Imam al-Tirmidhi, Abu al-Rayhan al-Biruni, Ibn Sina, and Muhammad al-Khwarizmi. During the past years, the strategic partnership between the UAE and the Republic of Uzbekistan in the areas of knowledge exchange and government modernization has constituted an advanced model of international cooperation. It witnessed the implementation of dozens of joint projects and initiatives in the areas of developing government performance, capacity building, excellence, services, innovation, leadership development, and designing national initiatives.

The strategic partnership in government modernization contributed to training about 2.8 million people from the Republic of Uzbekistan, through more than 380 workshops and more than 16.7 million training hours in all vital fields, while hundreds of officials, experts and government cadres participated in workshops, programmes, visits and knowledge exchange sessions, aimed at enhancing cooperation, accelerating the exchange of experiences, and translating knowledge into projects and initiatives that have an impact on society.
