South Korea’s food industry exports exceed $7.8 billion

SEOUL, May 30 (WAM) – South Korean food industry exports rose last year to $7.86 billion, an increase of 8.3% compared to 2024.

Data issued by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and the National Food Safety Information Service, according to the South Korean Yonhap Agency, showed that the value of exports of prepared foods and easy-to-consume meals amounted to $776.06 million, while the value of exports of roasted seaweed leaves recorded $562.39 million.

The data showed that the value of food industry production during the past year amounted to 119.73 trillion won, an increase of 4.3% compared to the previous year, while food industry production constituted 4.5% of the gross domestic product and 16.4% of the total production of South Korea’s domestic manufacturing sector.
