The president is in “excellent health” and “fully fit” to perform his duties

Donald Trump’s doctor said the president is in “excellent health” and “fully fit” to serve as commander-in-chief after a medical examination Tuesday at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

A report by Dr. Sean Barbabella, released late Friday, said Trump underwent a CT scan and another heart scan, along with cancer screenings and other preventive evaluations, conducted by 22 specialists.
Trump (79 years old) said after the visit on Tuesday that the test results were “absolutely perfect.”
President Trump weighed 108 kilograms, 6 kilograms more than his medical examination in April 2025. Doctors gave him guidance on his diet, physical activity and weight loss, but concluded that his “cognitive and physical performance is excellent.”

This came according to a memorandum published by the White House, after the president underwent his third in-person medical examination in 13 months.
The German News Agency (DPA) quoted critics as saying that reports related to Trump’s health often include fantastic language, but lack facts that can be independently verified.

Barbabella pointed out that Trump, who turns eighty next month, has a heart age estimated to be about 14 years younger than his actual age, repeating the same assessment he made following an examination last October.

There has been repeated speculation recently about Trump’s health, after pictures of bruises on his hands, some of which appeared to be covered by cosmetics, spread across the Internet, in addition to the swollen appearance of his legs, according to DPA.
Barbabella addressed this issue and explained that bruising “is associated with frequent handshakes and the use of aspirin to prevent cardiovascular disease, which is a common and non-serious effect of aspirin therapy.”

The White House had previously attributed the bruises to the use of blood-thinning medications. The doctor also noted that there was “slight swelling in the lower legs,” and confirmed that it had improved compared to last year.

Last July, the White House announced that Trump suffers from chronic venous insufficiency, a non-serious condition that affects the veins of the legs and appears mainly in the elderly, but Barbabella’s memo did not address this condition.

The doctor added that the president’s hearing was “good,” but noted that there was “a scar in the right ear consistent with a previous gunshot wound.”

A bullet slightly hit Trump’s ear in July 2024, when a gunman opened fire on him from the roof of a building during an election event in Pennsylvania, killing one attendee and seriously wounding two other people, before the attacker was killed.
