Macron calls for a quick agreement between Washington and Tehran and demands the immediate opening of Hormuz…and France is ready to intervene navally.

French President Emmanuel Macron stressed the utmost necessity of quickly reaching a strategic agreement between the United States of America and Iran, considering that the current situation requires urgent diplomatic action to end the simmering tensions.

Macron stressed that the absolute priority of international efforts at this stage must be focused on achieving two basic things, namely reaching an immediate ceasefire, and reopening the Strait of Hormuz immediately and without any preconditions, to ensure the flow of energy supplies and global trade.

In his vision for the next stage, the French President called for the need to continue diplomatic discussions to build a comprehensive understanding, stressing the inevitability of reaching a “complete and strong” agreement with Iran that is not limited to a temporary truce, but extends to include other vital issues, most notably:

  • Iranian nuclear program.
  • Ballistic missile program.
  • The regional stability file in the region.

At the executive level, Macron announced France’s full readiness to actively contribute to resuming and securing maritime traffic in the region, indicating that his country is ready to move through the “independent multinational mission” that was established in cooperation and coordination with the United Kingdom to secure vital waterways.

Macron’s statements reflect the growing European concern about the repercussions of closing the Strait of Hormuz on the global economy, and Paris’s attempt to find a meeting point that guarantees the security of the Arabian Gulf and curbs Tehran’s military ambitions through strict negotiating channels.
