The UAE strongly condemns and deplores the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by settlers and the raising of the Israeli flag in its courtyards

The UAE strongly condemned and denounced the storming of the courtyards of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque by settlers under the protection of the Israeli police, and the raising of the Israeli flag inside the courtyards by a number of them, considering this a provocation and an unacceptable extremist act. In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the necessity of respecting the historical and legal situation existing in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, ensuring the protection of all religious sanctities, and respecting the role of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in caring for endowments and managing the affairs of Al-Aqsa Mosque, expressing the UAE’s full solidarity and standing by brotherly Jordan, and its support for all measures it takes to preserve the holy places.

The Ministry also held the Israeli authorities responsible for stopping these escalatory practices, and called for not taking any steps that would inflame tension and destabilize the region, stressing the UAE’s categorical rejection of all practices that violate international legitimacy resolutions and signed agreements, which would lead to further instability.

The Ministry called on the international community to strengthen regional and international efforts aimed at finding a serious political horizon that leads to achieving comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, and meets the aspirations of the brotherly Palestinian people to establish their independent, sovereign state, in accordance with the relevant international legitimacy resolutions.
