Hamdan bin Mohammed reviews the plans of the Department of Economy and Tourism to accelerate the pace of economic growth

DUBAI, June 2, 2017 (WAM) – His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Dubai, stressed that enhancing the flexibility of Dubai’s economy represents a strategic priority to ensure the sustainability of growth and keep pace with global economic changes, within the framework of the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which aims to build a diversified economy based on innovation and effective partnerships.

His Highness said: “We continue to work on developing a flexible economic system capable of absorbing global transformations, by adopting innovative policies and enhancing integration between various sectors, in a way that supports Dubai’s competitiveness and consolidates its position as a global center for business and investment.”

His Highness added: “We are keen to strengthen the partnership between the government and private sectors, and provide an attractive business environment that provides qualitative opportunities for growth and expansion, which contributes to achieving our economic goals and enhances Dubai’s readiness for the requirements of the future.”

This came during His Highness’s visit to the Department of Economy and Tourism in Dubai, during which he was briefed on its plans to accelerate the pace of economic growth in the emirate.

During his inspection of the progress of work in the department, His Highness directed to continue taking the necessary steps to enhance the flexibility of the economy in Dubai and drive its growth, stressing the importance of cooperation with partners in the public and private sectors to consolidate the emirate’s position as a leading global center for trade, tourism and investment.

Upon his arrival to the Department of Economy and Tourism in Dubai, His Highness was received by His Excellency Hilal Saeed Al Marri, Director-General of the Department, and a number of senior officials.

His Excellency reviewed the most prominent current and future projects and initiatives led by the department to support the economy in its various sectors, in addition to its efforts in dealing with recent developments, including food security and the hospitality sector.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum renewed his confidence in Dubai’s ability to achieve sustainable growth in key sectors, praising the department’s commitment to implementing the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, and strengthening the emirate’s position as one of the best cities in the world in business, investment and innovation, based on the recommendations issued by the recent meeting hosted by the Dubai Council, in which about 300 senior officials and leaders of the business community in the emirate participated.

For his part, His Excellency Hilal Saeed Al Marri stressed that, under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, and the follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Dubai, the emirate continues to demonstrate high economic flexibility, supported by a coordinated response characterized by speed, clarity and confidence, indicating that the department’s strategic approach and cooperation With various partners and stakeholders in the public and private sectors, it enables it to deal efficiently with transient and short-term challenges, with a focus on achieving the ambitious goals of Dubai’s D33 Economic Agenda, and consolidating Dubai’s position on the global map as a leading destination for business and entertainment.
