Qatar strongly condemns Iranian attacks on civilian objects in Kuwait and Bahrain

The State of Qatar strongly condemned the Iranian attacks on civilian objects in the sisterly State of Kuwait and the sisterly Kingdom of Bahrain, including those that targeted Kuwait Airport and led to serious damage to a number of its facilities and the injury of people. It considered them a serious violation of the sovereignty of the two countries, and a blatant violation of the Geneva Conventions of 1949 and their Additional Protocols, the principles of international humanitarian law, specifically the principle of distinction, the prohibition of targeting civilians and civilian objects in armed conflicts, and the prohibition of indiscriminate attacks.
In a statement broadcast by the Qatar News Agency on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed the State of Qatar’s complete rejection of targeting civilian objects and vital installations, stressing in this context the need to spare the region from the consequences of unjustified attacks, and to work to reduce the escalation to restore security and stability regionally and internationally.
The Ministry renewed the State of Qatar’s full solidarity with the State of Kuwait and the Kingdom of Bahrain and its support for all measures they take to preserve their sovereignty and security, expressing the State of Qatar’s wishes for a speedy recovery for those injured, asking God Almighty to protect Kuwait and Bahrain from all harm.
