A serious accident involving a motorcyclist who drove against traffic in Dubai

A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a direct collision with a vehicle on an internal street in the Majan area of ​​Dubai, after he was riding his bike against the direction of traffic, according to what was reported by the Dubai Police General Command.
Director of the General Traffic Department, Brigadier General Jumaa Salem bin Suwaidan, said that the accident occurred as a result of the motorcyclist driving against the direction of traffic, which led to a direct collision with a vehicle that was traveling in its correct lane. The accident resulted in the motorcyclist suffering serious injuries, after which he was transported to the hospital to receive treatment.
He added that the command and control center in the General Directorate of Operations received a report about the accident, and immediately traffic patrols and ambulance teams moved to the site, and the necessary measures were taken.
Following the accident, Dubai Police renewed its warning about the dangers of driving against traffic, stressing that this behavior is one of the most prominent causes of serious and fatal traffic accidents, due to the direct confrontations it causes between vehicles and road users.
Bin Suwaidan pointed out that driving vehicles or bicycles against the direction of traffic represents a direct threat to the lives of drivers and pedestrians, in addition to causing disruption to traffic and causing serious human and material losses.
He called on all road users to adhere to the correct lanes and respect traffic laws and regulations in order to preserve their safety and the safety of others.
He stressed that Dubai Police continues to implement traffic awareness campaigns to reduce dangerous behavior on the roads, stressing that legal measures will be taken against violators in support of road security and community safety.
The fine for driving a vehicle against the direction of traffic is 600 dirhams and 4 black traffic points with the vehicle being impounded for 7 days, in addition to a fine for obstructing traffic amounting to 500 dirhams.
