Car sales in Mexico grew by 4.9 percent

Mexico, June 4, 2018 (WAM) New car sales in Mexico recorded an increase of 4.9 percent during the month of May, reaching 127,100 cars, achieving the highest level for this month since official data recording began in 2005.

The Mexican National Institute of Statistics and Geography reported that the automobile market in Mexico continued its upward trend for the third month in a row, supported by a recovery in consumer demand and an increase in promotions and financing programs offered by manufacturers and distributors.

He explained that the total sales of new cars during the period from January to May last year amounted to 627,609 cars, an increase of 4.9 percent compared to the same period last year.

For its part, the Mexican Automotive Industry Association confirmed that the results of May and the cumulative results for the first five months of the year represent record levels in the history of the Mexican automobile market.
