The retail markets in the country have recently witnessed a noticeable increase in demand for television screens, coinciding with the approaching start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Specialists in the electronics and screens trade and supply sector told Emirates Today that screen sales witnessed a growth of more than 40% compared to their rates during previous normal periods, driven by consumers’ preparations to follow the tournament matches, in addition to the tendency of many commercial and tourist establishments to update their equipment before the event.

They explained that large-sized screens currently account for the largest share of demand, especially the categories whose sizes range between 75 and 85 inches, noting that the increase in demand was not limited to individuals only, but extended to include hotels, cafes and restaurants that are working to prepare their sites to receive fans during the tournament period, as a number of them began to purchase new screens, the sizes of which reached 115 inches.

Specialists pointed out that the markets are witnessing limited offers on screens due to the increase in demand compared to the supply.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to begin on the 11th of this month. It is a tournament that is held once every four years and attracts wide public interest around the world.

Panjabi explained that the demand for purchasing screens is not limited to individual consumers only, but also extends to the hospitality sector, as large requests were observed from hotels, restaurants and cafes that are preparing to host the tournament by providing their facilities with new screens of large sizes reaching 115 inches.

He added that the markets are currently witnessing limited offers and discounts on television screen prices, as a result of the large increase in demand compared to the size of the supply in the markets, especially with the high demand from institutions operating in the hospitality sector.

For his part, Business Director of TCL in Dubai, Vic Chen, said that the FIFA World Cup tournament contributed to enhancing activity and demand for television screens, especially large-sized screens whose size starts from 75 inches and above.

He pointed out that large screens measuring 75 inches or more are still achieving strong growth rates ranging between 25 and 35% on a quarterly basis.

Shen added that, in light of the promotional campaigns and increasing support from various international brands that manufacture televisions, it is expected that the demand for large screens will continue to rise during the coming period, especially with the increasing trend of consumers towards adopting large-sized screens as the preferred choice for many of them.

In turn, the sales official at one of the electronics store chains, Muhammad Malik, confirmed that the demand for television screens is witnessing a significant increase ahead of the start of the FIFA World Cup competitions, indicating that the increasing demand comes from individual consumers, in addition to many hospitality institutions, such as hotels and cafes, which are working to prepare their sites to receive the tournament by purchasing new screens.

He said that screen sales during the current period have achieved a growth of more than 40% compared to previous normal days, explaining that the bulk of the demand, especially by hospitality institutions, is focused on screens of large sizes such as 85 inches and above, especially screens equipped with the latest technologies such as “8K” technology, which provides higher levels of resolution, clarity and quality of the image.

On the other hand, he stated that individual consumer demand is more concentrated on screens whose sizes range between 65 and 75 inches, pointing out that the markets are currently witnessing limited offers on television screens as a result of the significant increase in levels of demand compared to supply.
