An American helicopter crashed near the Strait of Hormuz and its crew was rescued

The New York Times quoted two informed sources as saying that an Apache helicopter belonging to the US Army crashed near the Strait of Hormuz today, and its two-member crew was safely rescued.

The report added that it is not yet clear whether the plane was shot down by Iranian fire, suffered a technical malfunction, or encountered another problem.

One of the people, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said it was not immediately clear whether the Apache plane was shot down by Iranian fire, suffered a mechanical failure, or encountered another problem, adding that the incident was under investigation.
