The European Central Bank raises interest rates for the first time in 3 years

Upload European Central Bank interest rates for the first time in nearly 3 years, in an attempt to limit the price rises sparked by The war in the Middle East.
This represents the bank’s first interest rate hike European Central Bank since September 2023, when the interest rate on deposit facilities peaked at 4%.
The Governing Council – the main decision-making body at the bank – has kept interest rates steady since June 2025.
