The “Iran Agreement” is an opportunity to prevent Tehran from possessing a nuclear weapon

The G7 leaders’ statement affirmed that the agreement between Washington and Tehran is a historic opportunity to prevent Iran from possessing a nuclear weapon, stressing the need to confront Tehran’s regional and missile threats.

The statement indicated that the multinational and independent defense initiative, led by France and Britain, could play an important role in facilitating the resumption of navigation traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.

The statement stressed that the right of transit passage without restrictions or fees through the Strait of Hormuz is the cornerstone of international trade.

The statement expressed “support for the immediate ceasefire in Lebanon and the efforts of the Lebanese leadership aimed at disarming Hezbollah.”

The United States and other G7 countries intend to intensify their efforts to end the war in Ukraine by increasing pressure on Russia, including imposing tougher sanctions on the oil and gas sectors, and expanding the supply of long-range weapons and air defense systems to Kiev, according to a statement issued by the summit.

The G7 said it would strengthen sanctions imposed on Russia, including taking measures targeting the oil and gas sectors, in parallel with increasing the supply of air defense capabilities, additional systems and interceptor missiles, as well as long-range weapons to Ukraine.
