Emirates Airlines launches the “Comprehensive Travel Insurance” program, the first of its kind in the world

Emirates Airlines launched the “Comprehensive Travel Insurance” program, in a new step that strengthens its leadership in improving customer experience, becoming the first air carrier in the world to offer an integrated travel insurance product that combines the expanded insurance benefits and direct support services that the carrier provides to its customers.

The program includes coverage for medical expenses related to incidents resulting from conflicts, in addition to providing hotel accommodation and support services during various disruptions or delays that may affect travel plans, giving customers more confidence and reassurance at all stages of their trips.

Emirates Airlines also guarantees to continue transporting customers to their final destinations, even in cases where the carrier’s flights are not available or when their travel plans include flights on other air carriers, by rebooking them on alternative flights at no additional cost.

It also includes cases where flights are canceled as a result of conflict-related circumstances or events.

The new program gives customers a higher level of reassurance and confidence from the moment they book their flights, by expanding the scope of medical coverage within the insurance product provided in cooperation with Travel Guard, in addition to an additional package of support services provided by Emirates Airlines, to complement the benefits available within the current insurance programs.

Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airlines, said: “Customer feedback has shown that the desire to travel remains strong, but there is a growing need for more comprehensive solutions in the field of travel insurance. From this standpoint, we were keen to develop a product that meets the aspirations of our customers and provides them with higher levels of protection and reassurance. In cooperation with Travel Guard, one of the leading global companies in the insurance sector, we are pleased to offer an advanced product that combines comprehensiveness and flexibility and provides broader coverage for a wider range of circumstances.”

He added: “With the continued strong demand for travel during the summer season, we are proud to provide more confidence and flexibility to our customers when planning their trips to and through Dubai, through an integrated system of protection and benefits when booking with Emirates Airlines.”

Russell Antonio, Head of Global Business and Partnerships at Travel Guard, said: “Our extended partnership with Emirates Airlines is based on a shared commitment to improving the customer experience. By harnessing the expertise of both parties, this new comprehensive coverage product provides an advanced level of protection that sets new standards in the industry and meets the needs of today’s travelers.”

The “Comprehensive Travel Insurance” program includes compensation for flight cancellations, delayed or lost baggage, unlimited coverage for medical expenses and emergency medical evacuation around the world, as well as a wide range of other benefits. Coverage for conflict-related incidents also includes compensation for medical expenses up to $25,000, with the possibility of extending the trip for up to 30 days without additional fees. This coverage is not related to government travel advisories or warnings.

Based on Emirates Airlines’ promise to travel with “permanent excellence” and its keenness to take care of customers, the carrier continues to provide hotel accommodation services managed directly by its team during operational disruptions, including airspace closures**, in addition to a group of existing customer-focused benefits, such as the ability to change the travel date without fees for tickets booked as of April 2, and a 24-hour price fixing service without fees, which gives travelers greater flexibility, comfort and reassurance at various stages of their journey.

The “Comprehensive Travel Insurance” program is available at a competitive cost that provides exceptional value to customers, and can be purchased through the Emirates website during booking or added to existing reservations through the reservation management service*.
