Edge and Leonardo are collaborating through a joint venture to develop advanced defense systems and sensors

PARIS, 17 JUNE / WAM / The EDGE Group and Leonardo have announced the details regarding the establishment of their new joint venture, in line with the previously announced cooperation road map, which will design, manufacture and market advanced defense systems and sensors, including airborne radars for new generation stealth platforms, Kronos Grand Mobile High Power (HP) radar, combat management systems, and multi-mission sensors for aircraft.

The project constitutes a platform for marketing the M-346 trainer and fighter jet and other defense capabilities in European and international markets and is based on the existing cooperation between the two companies, combining the industrial flexibility and global market reach of EDGE, with the technological depth and engineering expertise possessed by Leonardo, allowing the creation of an advanced platform for the development of systems and sensors for the benefit of customers in Europe and various global markets.

In this regard, Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director and CEO of Edge Group, said that “Leonardo” has decades of experience and engineering excellence in the fields of radars and combat management systems, while Edge has industrial capabilities, flexibility, and ease of access to markets, allowing these advanced technologies to be delivered to customers at a faster pace.

He added that through this joint project, we will have the necessary capabilities to develop some of the most advanced systems and sensors in the world, in addition to commercial opportunities exceeding 4 billion euros over the next five years.
