The UAE completes the distribution of relief aid to those affected by the Philippine earthquake

The UAE Aid Response Team continued to implement its relief efforts in the Republic of the Philippines, completing the distribution of urgent aid to families affected by the earthquake that occurred off the coast of Sarangani Province on June 8, as part of a rapid humanitarian action aimed at supporting communities affected by natural disasters, providing the basic needs of those affected, and mitigating the effects of the earthquake on the affected families.

The completion of the aid distribution came within the urgent humanitarian phase implemented by the UAE to support those affected in the city of General Santos and the affected areas in Sarangani province, where the response team distributed about 2,925 food parcels and 1,000 gallons of drinking water, which contributes to meeting the basic needs of the affected families and alleviating the humanitarian and living repercussions left by the earthquake.

These efforts come within the framework of the UAE response plan, which aims to distribute ongoing relief aid to those affected, in coordination with the concerned local Philippine authorities, to ensure that aid reaches the most needy groups, and to enhance the ability of afflicted families to overcome the effects of the disaster, especially in areas where homes, basic services, and community structure have been affected.

The UAE aid response team carried out field visits to a number of affected areas, and was informed directly of the conditions of families and their humanitarian needs, ensuring that support is directed according to the actual needs of the affected communities, and following up on the stages of implementing the relief operation efficiently and quickly.
