12 people were injured in a shooting from an SUV into a crowd on a street in Chicago

At least 12 people in a crowd gathered on a Chicago street were shot after an SUV stopped and two people inside began shooting, police said.

Police added in a press release that the vehicle left the South Side neighborhood, leaving two people, both males, in critical condition following the shooting that occurred late Friday evening. One of them was shot in the thigh.

The ages of the injured, eight men and four women, ranged between 17 and 47 years, and they were receiving treatment in four hospitals.

Another man suffered unknown injuries, but refused medical treatment, police said.

Police initially responded to a report that one person had been shot, and found a woman with two gunshot wounds to her back, and a man with four superficial wounds (bullet scratches) to his back. The condition of both was listed as stable.
