Dubai Roads allocates 23 “temporary” rest stops at bus and metro stations for delivery drivers

The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai has allocated 23 locations at bus and metro stations as temporary rest stops for delivery bike drivers distributed across various vital areas in the emirate, an increase of 53% over the number of rest stops allocated to delivery drivers for the year 2025, in line with the initiative to protect workers from heat stress at noon, in the summer period between June 15 and September 15, and the ban on performing work under the sun and in open spaces from 12:30 p.m. Until three in the evening, according to the directives of the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation.

The Authority confirmed that providing temporary rest stops for delivery bike drivers came in coordination with the relevant authorities and the Authority’s partners, as 8 new locations were added this year to the initiative (15 locations last year), in order to keep pace with the increasing growth of the delivery sector in the emirate, and with the aim of raising the level of traffic safety, reducing the risk of accidents on the roads, enhancing the quality of life and means of comfort for bike drivers during the period of their waiting for new orders, raising their level of happiness, and encouraging them to adhere to traffic laws and regulations.

These steps confirm the authority’s role as a major contributor to the success of national initiatives aimed at preserving the safety of delivery bike drivers, in line with quality of life trends and enhancing Dubai’s position as the best city to live and work in the world.

The Authority reported that the rest stops chosen this year included various vital areas of Dubai, including: Gold Souq Bus Station, Satwa Bus Station, Al Jafiliya Bus Station, Al Qusais Bus Station, Al Karama Bus Station, Al Rashidiya Metro Station, Al Furjan Metro Station, DMCC Metro Station, Burjuman Metro Station, Ibn Battuta Metro Station and Etisalat Metro Station, and include facilities that serve the largest number of beneficiaries of delivery drivers during the initiative period.
