13 killed in Ras Laffan explosion

Qatari Energy Minister Saad Al-Kaabi said on Monday that at least 13 people were killed and 66 others were injured following an explosion that occurred yesterday, Sunday, at the Ras Laffan liquefied natural gas complex.

He stressed during a press conference that this incident will not affect anything related to exports or local needs, noting that it is difficult to determine a date for resuming operations in the damaged factory at the present time.

He added that there were no environmental risks resulting from the explosion, explaining that what happened in Ras Laffan was an accident and not aggression or sabotage, and that work is currently being done to determine the cause of the explosion, and the accident did not affect export capabilities.
