89% decrease in citizens’ accumulated “housing services” requests during 2025

The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure revealed that the housing sector achieved advanced performance indicators during the past year, represented by the happiness rate with housing services reaching 86%, and the accumulated requests being reduced by 89%, while the time for a citizen to obtain housing support, whether a loan or a grant, was only about 0.6 years (seven months and six days).

The statistics, seen by Emirates Today, showed that 82% of housing assistance decisions were funded by the private sector, an indicator that reflects the growing partnership between the government and private sectors in supporting the housing file and accelerating the completion of applications.

According to the annual statistical book, the total value of decisions issued, since the establishment of the Sheikh Zayed Housing Program in 1999 until the end of last year (during 26 years), amounted to 52 billion and 347 million and 395 thousand and 473 dirhams, through the issuance of 74 thousand and 500 decisions, which reflects the sustainable impact of the program in enhancing family stability and providing adequate housing for citizens.

According to the data, during the past year, the Ministry issued 3,567 housing support decisions with a total value of 2.54 billion dirhams, which included housing financing, a government housing loan, and housing grants. It included a total of 2,388 housing financing decisions, 623 government housing loan decisions, 556 housing grant decisions, and 556 housing grants, in addition to 140 ownership decisions during the past year.

The housing sector recorded a number of qualitative achievements, most notably the launch of the “Housing for Senior Citizens” initiative to provide insurance protection for housing loans, in addition to establishing the National Housing Support Fund “Sakani,” in addition to winning the presidency of the General Assembly and membership of the Executive Council of the United Nations Human Settlements Program “Habitat,” and obtaining the best team in zeroing out bureaucracy for the “My Home Package” to facilitate housing procedures for citizens.

In the road sector, the Ministry revealed the signing of 13 contracts to maintain and raise the efficiency of the federal road network, while maintenance budgets to raise the efficiency of federal roads amounted to 160 million dirhams, and 130 assignment orders were issued to maintain federal road assets, and the total length of federal roads reached 933 kilometers, including 34 major direct intersections, with 100% complete coverage of gas stations on federal roads.

In terms of projects, the Ministry implemented federal road projects with a length of 160 kilometers, in addition to maintaining and developing 204 federal buildings, maintaining 351 water facilities, and completing 3,070 technical treatments for individual residences, in addition to implementing 10 projects to construct government buildings and maintain federal road assets with a length of 83 kilometers.

In the land transport sector, the Ministry issued 15,148 permits for national vehicles during the past year, and renewed 49,852 permits, while the number of permanent operating licenses for national facilities issued annually reached 514 licenses, in addition to issuing 2,859 renewed permanent operating licenses.

The number of land transport companies registered with the Ministry annually reached 3,373, at a time when the percentage of mass transport trips by operators reached 8.9%.

Regarding the railway project, statistics revealed the construction of 900 kilometers of railway length, while the total kilometers traveled on the railway network amounted to three thousand and 507 kilometers, while no deaths were recorded on federal railways during the past year.

In the field of inspection and control, the Ministry monitored and examined 6,096 means of transportation, carried out inspection visits to 2,324 facilities, and conducted 1,758 inspections of foreign ships in the country’s ports, while the number of electronic services provided in this sector reached six services.
