Abdullah bin Zayed stresses, during a call with Araqchi, the importance of full compliance with the terms of the memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran.

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, received a phone call from Abbas Araqchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

During the call, the overall situation in the region and the latest regional developments were discussed, following reaching an agreement on the memorandum of understanding between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran and its signing by the two countries.

In this regard, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed during the call the importance of full compliance with the terms of the agreement to ensure an immediate and comprehensive cessation of aggressive actions in the region, respect for the sovereignty of states and the principles of good neighbourliness, strict adherence to international law, and the protection of sea lanes and freedom of international navigation, including ensuring the smooth flow of movement in the Strait of Hormuz, expressing his hope that the ongoing negotiations will lead to positive results that lead to achieving sustainable security and stability in the region.

His Highness pointed out that serious diplomacy and responsible dialogue are the best way to address all regional and international crises, in a way that achieves peoples’ aspirations for prosperity and development.
