The dollar is on track to record its best monthly performance in nearly a year

Capitals, June 29 / WAM / The dollar recorded a slight rise today, Monday, continuing its path towards achieving its largest monthly gains in nearly a year.
The euro settled at $1.1387, heading for a monthly loss of 2.3 percent, while the British pound fell 0.1 percent to $1.3198, with monthly losses amounting to 2 percent.
The Australian dollar also fell 0.1 percent to 0.6885 US dollars, on its way to a monthly decline of 4.1 percent, while the New Zealand dollar stabilized at 0.5635 US dollars, recording a monthly loss of 5.9 percent.
On the other hand, the Japanese yen fell to 161.75 against the dollar, approaching its lowest levels in 40 years, while the dollar index, which measures the performance of the American currency against a basket of major currencies, rose to 101.36.
