Courts "Dubai International Financial" Launches a new commercial mediation initiative

Dubai, 1st July / WAM / The Dubai International Financial Center Courts launched a new initiative for commercial mediation through its Mediation Services Centre, with the aim of providing an additional and effective path for settling commercial disputes in their early stages, ensuring the preservation of commercial relations and business continuity.
His Excellency Judge Omar Al Muhairi, Director of the Dubai International Financial Center Courts, confirmed that this initiative reflects the courts’ commitment to developing an integrated system for settling commercial disputes, pointing out that the commercial mediation program represents a vital extension of the role played by the Mediation Services Center by providing broader options for companies to settle their disputes.
He explained that mediation gains special importance when the parties concerned want to maintain their commercial relations and reach practical solutions, relying on the legal certainty provided by the courts of the Dubai International Financial Center.
This initiative is being implemented in cooperation with The Mediation Hub – MENA, and will extend over a period of six months, starting from July 1 until December 31, 2026. During the program period, eligible companies receive a free one-hour consultation on conflict management, provided by a mediator registered with “The Mediation Hub – MENA”. The program also grants these companies a 50% reduction on the administrative fees of the Mediation Services Center in the DIFC Courts when moving to the mediation stage. The program also provides the possibility of benefiting from Certified brokers and streamlined procedures, along with enforceable settlement agreements where required.
The program was prepared to focus primarily on commercial disputes in which the parties seek to maintain their existing commercial relationships, continue implementing their valid contracts, and search for practical solutions through mediation whenever appropriate.
This initiative comes in response to the increasing economic and commercial variables associated with supply chains, operating costs, contractual obligations, and payment terms. The initiative provides companies with an additional path to settle disputes, complementing other services provided by the DIFC Courts, allowing parties to explore ways to settle through mediation wherever possible.
The program’s services allow qualified commercial parties from various sectors, whether within the United Arab Emirates or internationally, to benefit from these services, which reflects the ability of the DIFC Courts to support qualified parties beyond the traditional boundaries of jurisdiction.
Through the Mediation Services Centre, the program provides companies, investors and individuals with a structured path to mediation based on the legal framework of the courts, and when the parties reach an agreement, they can, as appropriate, formalize the settlement and have it formally implemented through the DIFC Courts.
The Mediation Hub – MENA provides its full support to the program by receiving inquiries, providing a free one-hour consultation session on conflict management, appointing registered mediators according to each case, in addition to contributing to the management of qualified mediation requests.
Interested parties can submit requests to benefit from the free consultation and commercial mediation program directly to The Mediation Hub – MENA, which will in turn evaluate inquiries and appoint a registered mediator where necessary to ensure the process runs smoothly and professionally.
