The organizing committee of the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam – Rio de Janeiro Jiu-Jitsu Championship announced the completion of registration for the categories of the first day of the tournament, which will be held over two days on July 11 and 12, within the second round of the 2026-2027 season sponsored by Edge, after the great success witnessed by the opening round in Istanbul, and the wide turnout it has recorded since the start of the season.

The first day is dedicated to competitions for children, juniors, youth, and masters for the purple, brown, and black belts, as registration closed after reaching capacity, while the opportunity is still available to register for the second day’s competitions, which include amateurs for the white and blue belts, along with professionals for the purple, brown, and black belts, with applications for participation continuing to be received until the specified date.

The Rio de Janeiro round has a special place within the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam series, as it is held in Brazil, which is the home of modern jiu-jitsu, and has a historical legacy in developing and spreading it worldwide, which gives this leg great artistic and competitive value, in light of the participation of elite players and academies from various countries.

While the name of Brazil has been linked to the history and development of jiu-jitsu, Abu Dhabi has succeeded over the past years in consolidating its position as the global capital of jiu-jitsu, by developing an integrated system for tournaments, establishing the highest standards of organization, arbitration and competition management, in addition to building a series of global championships that attract elite players from various continents, making the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam one of the most prominent international tournaments on the game’s calendar, and a major station in the journey of players seeking to enhance their score in the world rankings of the Association.
