Do not put slime in the microwave

The Department of Women and Child Protection in the General Department of Human Rights, and the Department of Electronic and Cybercrimes in the General Department of Criminal Investigations and Investigations in Dubai Police, have warned against imitating video clips that have spread on social media platforms, in which some children and teenagers place “slime” inside microwaves to raise their temperature and increase their softness, stressing that these practices may cause burns and serious injuries to children and teenagers, due to chemical reactions and high temperatures.

Dubai Police urged parents, with the start of the summer vacation, to instruct their children not to blindly imitate everything published on social media sites, in order to ensure their safety.

She explained that exposing slime to high heat inside the microwave leads to it expanding and emitting vapors and hot materials that may explode or scatter immediately after being taken out, exposing children to direct burns to the face, hands and body, in addition to the possibility of damage to household appliances or the outbreak of small fires as a result of incorrect use.

She stressed that the danger of clips circulating on social media lies in the possibility of children imitating them without realizing the consequences, calling on parents to strengthen control over the content that their children follow through social media platforms, and not to let children use electrical appliances or microwaves without direct supervision.

Dubai Police stressed the importance of establishing a culture of home safety among children during the summer vacation, and investing free time in safe and useful activities far away, wishing a safe summer for children.

It is worth noting that the Department of Electronic and Cybercrimes launched an electronic awareness platform, which aims to spread awareness of electronic “cyber” crimes, and includes valuable content in Arabic and English, including everything related to aspects of preventing the risks of cybercrimes, and identifying and avoiding fraudulent methods.
