Prince Harry loses a case he filed against the Daily Mail

British Prince Harry, the youngest son of King Charles, and a number of senior British figures lost their privacy lawsuits on Tuesday against the publisher of the Daily Mail newspaper, in a crushing defeat in the latest legal battle that Harry is waging with the British press.

Harry, who resides in the US state of California, filed several lawsuits against the British press and repeatedly accused it of abusing its influence.

He happened to be in Britain at the time of the Supreme Court ruling in London.

The 41-year-old prince has always held the press responsible for the car accident that killed his mother, Princess Diana, in Paris in 1997. He likened the way the press treated her to the way he treated his American wife, Meghan. He almost burst into tears when he testified last January, saying that the Daily Mail made Meghan’s life “absolute misery.”

Harry had won a lawsuit against the publisher of the Daily Mirror newspaper, and reached a settlement with Rupert Murdoch’s press arm in Britain, but the ruling issued on Tuesday represents a major defeat in his battles with the media.
