By adding 700 new trucks, DB World strengthens its network in the GCC countries

DP World Group has acquired 700 new trucks to expand the land freight network in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, which in turn gives customers greater reliability and efficiency when transporting goods across the region.

This investment comes within the framework of the group’s long-term strategy to build an integrated logistics network linking ports, container terminals, economic zones, and digital platforms, to provide integrated solutions to customers along supply chains.

Ahmed Yousef Al-Hassan, CEO and General Manager of DB World in the GCC, said: “This step reflects our commitment to strengthening our multi-modal network and supporting the growth of our customers’ businesses in the GCC countries. With the increasing pace of demand in the region, we are moving forward in expanding our operational capabilities to provide them with an integrated and reliable logistics network that keeps pace with their requirements at every stage of the supply chain.”

The new fleet will add up to 35,000 truck trips per month, supporting local and cross-border land transportation operations for DB World customers in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. These trucks will meet the requirements of the first, middle, and final stages in the region, and will contribute to raising the efficiency of transporting containerized and non-containerized goods.

The new trucks are gradually being used in operations, complementing DB World’s existing network fleet capacity, which has reached approximately 3,000 truck movements per day across the region.

In recent months, DB World opened express customs lanes linking the eastern coast gates directly to Jebel Ali Port, established a customs lane from Sohar in the Sultanate of Oman, and utilized sea route options across the Red Sea through the southern container terminal at Jeddah Islamic Port, allowing more than 350,000 20-foot TEUs to be routed by land in the wake of maritime disruptions.

This latest investment provides customers with a broader, faster and more flexible land freight network, and at the same time expands the scope of transportation services from the port to the customer’s door and time-sensitive shipments, thus enhancing the flexibility of logistics services in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
