Sharjah Self-Defense Club honors elite athletes

Sharjah, 9 July / WAM / The Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club, within the “Those Who Made Glory” and “Distinguished Family” initiatives, honored an elite group of sports cadres who contributed to the establishment of self-defense sports, coinciding with the Year of the Family and within the activities of the Sharjah Summer Sports Program “Our Vacation is Not”, which is supervised by the Sharjah Sports Council and within the framework of the “Family Week” activities.

The honor included…the family of the late Ali bin Rashid Al-Jarwan, as he is one of the figures who contributed to spreading the sport of judo, and his son Abdul Rahman Ali Al-Jarwan took it over on his behalf. The international referee and lecturer, Captain Ahmed Sulaiman Al-Balushi, was also honored in the sport of judo, and his brother Ali Sulaiman Al-Balushi received it. In the sport of taekwondo, the family of the late Muhammad Mahmoud, one of the founders of the sport of taekwondo, was honored, and the international expert Ziad Hammad was honored for his role in the development of the sport of taekwondo, and the honor was given in appreciation. For the pivotal and important role in establishing self-defense sports and sustainability in promoting the development of judo and taekwondo.

The honor also included a number of distinguished families who played a prominent role in creating champions with high morals and sportsmanship, in addition to achieving sporting and societal achievements, namely: the family of Mr. Tariq Al Naboodah, the family of Mr. Saleh Al Jasmi, the family of Mr. Fadel Al Junaibi, and the family of Mr. Omar Al Muhairi.

His Excellency Ahmed Saeed Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club, congratulated the honored personalities and families, stressing that the club family is proud to celebrate the cadres who left sports and societal imprints and contributed to achieving many successes, indicating that this honor embodies the values ​​of loyalty and appreciation for those who served the sport and contributed to building its path.

He said that the “Those Who Made Glory” initiative, in addition to honoring the distinguished family, falls within the club’s vision that aims to celebrate those who give and achieve, and establish a culture of recognizing the efforts of pioneers to be a source of inspiration for future generations, and to enhance the values ​​of loyalty and appreciation for those who have contributed to the service of sports and society.

Al Jarwan stressed that the club will continue to launch initiatives that enhance community partnership and honor inspiring models that have had a positive impact on the path of Emirati sports.
