The Ministry revealed Environment, water and agriculture about the types of Seasonal fodderthat is allowed to be grown in the sedimentary shelf areas, and the controls and scope of its cultivation, coinciding with the imminent implementation of the decision to stop the cultivation of perennial fodder, as part of its efforts to regulate agricultural activity and preserve water resources.

The Ministry explained that the implementation of the controls begins as of November 16, 2026, stressing that the cultivation of seasonal fodder in the sedimentary shelf areas requires obtaining a prior license in accordance with the controls and procedures. The organization.

Forages allowed for cultivation

It indicated that the seasonal fodders allowed for cultivation include: Egyptian single-branch clover, Egyptian multi-branch clover, millet, sorghum, sorghum, oats, Italian Rhodes fescue, Italian sorghum, and annual clover fescue. Hail, Tabuk, and Al-Jawf, which are located within the sedimentary shelf, which contributes to organizing fodder cultivation and raising the efficiency of water use in agricultural activity.

The Ministry confirmed that these measures come within its efforts to achieve water sustainability, preserve groundwater reserves, and promote the optimal use of natural resources, in line with the objectives of the National Water Strategy and the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
