For the current year, Dubai Electricity and Water wins two international awards in governance from the United Kingdom

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has won two prestigious international awards from the Cambridge IFA in the United Kingdom, namely the Best Corporate Governance Framework Award for the year 2026, and the Excellence Award in Environmental, Social, Corporate Governance and Sustainability for the year 2026, in confirmation of its leading global position in the fields of corporate governance and sustainability.

The Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, received the two awards at the authority’s new headquarters, in the presence of the Executive Vice President for the Business Development and Excellence Sector, Engineer Walid bin Salman, the Vice President for Governance and Compliance, Dr. Ali Mohammed Al Muwaiji, and the Authority’s Corporate Governance and Compliance Department work team.

Al Tayer said: “Within the framework of the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, the Authority is adopting an integrated system that covers various activities and operations, in a way that enhances efficiency, raises productivity, and stimulates creativity and innovation.”

He explained that effective governance practices contributed to the Authority achieving competitive results at the global level, until it became a role model for service institutions around the world.

He also stressed that the Authority’s receipt of these two awards reflects its commitment to excellence in governance and leadership in sustainability and continuous innovation, based on its belief that good governance and sustainable institutional practices constitute two basic pillars of long-term success, enhancing the confidence of stakeholders, and achieving sustainable value.

He pointed out that the Authority’s governance model is based on four main pillars: trust, accountability, transparency, and fair practices, stressing that these pillars form the basis of a sustainable institutional culture that supports growth, innovation, and excellence, and contributes to consolidating the confidence of those concerned.

For his part, Engineer Walid bin Salman said: “The Authority is committed to applying the best governance practices within an integrated institutional framework that includes all its activities and operations, guided by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development’s guides on corporate governance, in addition to the World Bank’s guidelines and other international references,” pointing out that this achievement reflects the comprehensive institutional approach adopted by the Authority to enhance sustainability, innovation and institutional responsibility in its various operations.

For his part, Dr. Ali Al Muwaiji said: “The two awards reflect the effectiveness of the Authority’s integrated governance system, which is consistent with the best international standards and practices. By establishing a culture of continuous improvement, transparency and responsible leadership, the Authority has succeeded in integrating the principles of governance and sustainability into strategic planning and daily operational operations, in a way that supports the achievement of its institutional goals and enhances its sustainable value.”
