Modest clothing, prohibition of smoking and traveling with infectious diseases… behavioral controls on “Etihad trains”

Etihad Rail has set special rules for passenger behavior, including modest dress, the general appearance of passengers, and the inadmissibility of endangering public health, including traveling while suffering from a contagious disease, causing inconvenience or annoyance to others, or smoking, among others.

She stressed the need for everyone to adhere to it at all times inside stations and on board trains, in line with applicable cultural norms and standards.

The rules of conduct adopted in the Traveler’s Charter, which Emirates Today reviewed, affirmed that all travelers must wear modest and appropriate clothing at all times, as it is prohibited to wear transparent or inappropriate clothing, or that includes offensive images, phrases, or slogans, according to what Etihad Rail estimates.

It specified cases of ineligibility for entry or stay, as it stated that no traveler may enter or stay if the authorized person reasonably believes that the traveler is in an unsuitable or unsuitable condition, or that his clothing may contaminate or damage any of the property of “Etihad Trains” or the property of the National Railways, or the property or clothing of any other person.

Etihad Rail warned that these rules apply when entering, being in or passing through any area that requires a ticket, or when on board a train, and these rules aim to ensure a safe, comfortable and respectful journey for all travelers.

The Code of Conduct stressed the importance of adhering to appropriate, respectful, and reasonable behavior, as it stated that travelers may not use any offensive, threatening, obscene, or inappropriate language, nor may they behave in an uncivilized, abusive, threatening, or harassing, disrespectful, intimidating, or inconvenient manner in any way.

The Code of Conduct also allows Etihad Rail employees or the authorized person to ask any passenger to stand in line, in order to maintain order, safety, and smooth movement at stations and trains.

It also stipulates that if the traveler is directed to stand in line by virtue of a notice or signboard, or at the request of the authorized person, he must stand at the end of the line and follow the reasonable instructions issued by the person authorized to organize the queue, and it is strictly prohibited to skip the queue or attempt to skip it in any way.

The Code of Conduct included a mechanism for dealing with items that may pose a danger, as it stressed that no traveler may bring or leave any material or item that the authorized person believes may pose a threat, cause inconvenience, or lead to pollution, damage, or exposing any person, property, or national railway facilities to danger.

It cautioned that if an authorized person asks any traveler to remove a violating item or item, and he does not do so immediately, that item may be removed by the authorized person or under his direction, and the traveler shall bear all costs and expenses associated with such removal.

The Code of Conduct stressed that passengers may not smoke, whether using pipes, cigars, cigarettes, or any other tobacco products, or use electronic cigarettes, vaporizers, or any similar devices for smoking or vaping, or carry any matches, lighters, or burning materials, within any area that requires a ticket, except for places explicitly designated by “Etihad Trains” as areas where smoking is permitted.

No traveler may possess, consume, provide, or handle any controlled items or substances, narcotics, or any other substance prohibited under applicable national laws.

Likewise, no passenger may carry any of the prohibited items, nor may any passenger carry any of the restricted items unless he meets the conditions of transport applicable to them.

The rules warn of four things that passengers may not cause: disrupting train operations, including tampering with the train’s entry doors or misusing any of the alarm systems, endangering safety and/or security, including not adhering to safety and security instructions issued by Etihad Rails, endangering public health, including traveling while suffering from a contagious disease, or causing inconvenience, harassment, or disruption to other passengers, Etihad Rails employees, authorized persons, or any person. Another, passengers may not engage in any activity on board the train or within the mandatory ticketing area that includes selling, advertising, or distributing any goods or services, conducting surveys, begging, or promoting for any purpose, without obtaining prior written approval from Etihad Rail.

She stressed that in the event that the traveler does not comply with any of the provisions of this section, or commits a crime or any other violating behavior on board the train or within any station or facility, Etihad Rails reserves the right to take legal action against him in accordance with applicable national laws, inform the competent authorities, and recover all costs, expenses and damages resulting from that.

Electronic devices

The Code of Conduct stresses that mobile phones, tablets, laptops, and other electronic devices must be used in a way that does not cause inconvenience to other passengers or Etihad Rail employees.

This includes using headphones when playing any audio clips, and maintaining an appropriate volume level that does not cause disturbance to others. She stressed that Etihad Rail employees have the right to take what they deem appropriate to deal with any noise or inconvenience resulting from the use of electronic devices, including asking the traveler to stop using the device, use headphones, lower the volume, or leave the train at the next station if it continues to cause inconvenience or excessive noise.
